On this edition of Native Report, how does a sovereign Indian nation prepare for disasters that may involve coordinating with neighboring state, county, and municipal authorities? The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe has won awards for doing just that in their efforts to prepare for every kind of disaster, ranging from toxic chemical spills to an avian flu epidemic. Then we’ll visit WELY “End of the Road Radio,” a community radio station proudly owned and operated by the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa. We’ll also visit with the elders and learn something new about Indian Country today on Native Report.
