Season 13 Episode 15
We head into the kitchen to bake a batch of Three-Sisters Cookies with Tashia Hart. We learn about an Ojibwe language and culture podcast that features Native American puppets. And we learn about the how one Native nation plans to be energy independent by the year 2020.
Recipe - 3 Sisters Cookie
- 4 Cups – Seed Butter (Pumpkin Seeds & Sunflower Seeds)
- 1 Cup – Roasted Squash Puree
- 1 Cup – Pureed Beans
- 1 Cup – Finely Ground Corn Meal or Corn Flour
- ½ Cup – Maple Syrup
- ½ Cup – Honey
- 1 Tb – Salt
- Optional: Dried Cranberries, Nuts, Popped Amaranth Seeds, Jelly, etc.
To make Seed Butter:
Place pumpkin & sunflower seeds in food processor; chop/blend until consistency of peanut butter
To make Cookie Dough:
Mix all ingredients well in food processor.
Transfer to a large mixing bowl; add any dried berries and/or nuts
Drop by tablespoon onto greased parchment paper (baking sheet); press down batter until ½ inch thick
Bake at 350° for 10 minutes (until golden brown, turn pan as needed)
Top with Dried Cranberries, Nuts, Popped Amaranth Seeds, Jelly, etc.
